Premier Li Keqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, stressed prevention and treatment of AIDS ahead of the 33rd World AIDS Day on Dec 1.
In an instruction on the AIDS prevention and treatment work, Premier Li said that through joint efforts from all regions, departments and the whole society, China has made remarkable achievements in AIDS prevention and control during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).
The Premier called for continued efforts to strengthen the prevention and treatment of AIDS, reform the disease prevention and control system and improve related mechanisms, strengthen responsibilities of the government, departments, society and individuals.
Premier Li urged focusing on problems and challenges, making more efforts to reduce risky behaviors and disease transmission, enhancing scientific research and ensuring drug supply.
The instruction also stressed the importance of assistance and humanistic care for infected people, and the private sector’s role in AIDS control.
