Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery, based in Mansfield, Texas, has announced that they have recently published a blog post on how much a breast lift will cost. The article is designed to answer the basic questions in the minds of people who are considering a breast lift or mastopexy, particularly with regards to the expenses that they have to shoulder for undergoing the procedure.
The cosmetic surgery center was founded in 2008 and serves clients living near Arlington, Mansfield, Burleson, Midlothian, Dallas, Fort Worth, and the surrounding cities of North Central Texas. Since its establishment, Dr. Michael L. Thornton has been serving as its surgical director. Dr. Thornton is a double board certified Cosmetic Surgeon and Diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
According to Dr. Thornton, mastopexy is a mammoplasty procedure that is designed to raise sagging breasts through the modification of the size, contour, and elevation of the breasts. The blog post explains that the breast lift cost will be somewhere between $4000 to $5000. The cosmetic surgeon fees will vary depending on how complex the procedure that is required and on whether the client wants a saline or silicone breast augmentation at the same time.
Statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reveal that the average cost of surgeon fees for a mastopexy is $4816. However, in addition to the surgeon fees, there will also be the operating room fees and/or general anesthesia-related fees that will add several more thousand dollars. It should also be noted that private health insurance plans do not cover the cost of a breast lift because it is not considered to be medically necessary.
Meanwhile, if the client wants to add breast augmentation to the breast lift, this will add several thousands of dollars, depending on whether a saline or silicone gel breast implant will be used. Silicone gel implants are more expensive because of the manufacturing process. Many patients decide to have the breast lift and breast augmentation simultaneously in order to get the desired effect in just a single stage operation. The typical cost of a breast lift plus breast augmentation ranges from $6500 to $8500.
Aside from the actual costs of the procedure, there will also be some costs in terms of missed work during the recovery. Dr. Thornton has observed that most patients were able to get back to their normal activity in one or two weeks. After the mastopexy procedure, the patient will recover at the surgery center for several hours until it is safe to send her home with an appropriate caregiver. The patient will be provided with post-operative instructions, muscle relaxation medication, narcotic pain medication, nausea medication, and antibiotics. Drains are typically not required and all stitches are done under the skin so there will be no need for stitch removal at a later date. Patients may take a shower the next morning because the incisions are covered with waterproof surgical blue and paper tape.
Meanwhile, aside from the breast lift and breast augmentation procedures, Dr. Thornton also provides breast reduction surgery, breast implant revision, and male breast reduction. Aside from breast cosmetic procedures, Dr. Thornton also offers facial plastic surgery procedures, body contouring surgery procedures, and male cosmetic surgery procedures.
