John Fawkner Private Hospital’s reputation as the facility of choice for the people of Melbourne’s north-west is testimony to the hard work and dedication of our friendly and highly trained staff.
Formerly Sacred Heart Hospital, it was built by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart and opened its doors in September 1939. At that time, Sacred Heart was perhaps best known as a maternity hospital and the midwifery unit was the third busiest in Victoria.
Today, our hospital is a fully accredited, 142-bed major surgical, acute medical and emergency hospital located in Melbourne’s north-western suburbs. Equipped for a comprehensive range of surgical procedures, medical treatment and diagnostic services, we are recognised by both the local community and visiting medical fraternity as a provider of a high level of patient care and support.
