After nearly ten years of fundraising land acquisition, hard work and dedication, the hospital's foundation stone was laid on the 14th of May 1958.
On the 2nd of June the same year, the Chairman of the Hospital's Board of Governors, Dr Harold Crawford, performed the hospital's first operation.
In so doing, he began a proud tradition of clinical excellence that still serves to guide the hospital and its staff in their endeavour to provide the highest quality healthcare.

The SurgiCentre was established in 1989 in a location reflected in its logo design, overlooking the bush foreshore and bay of Rosebud - an environment that’s most conducive to healing.
There are currently 15 full time staff plus visiting specialist consultants. Within the attractive architecturally designed modern building there is state of the art technology, operating theatre, preparation and recovery rooms, and consulting rooms.

Rosebud SurgiCentre is fully accredited with Global-Mark according to Australian Standard ISO 9001-2008, incorporating the Core Standards for Safety and Quality in Healthcare, and, as such is subject to continuous evaluation and quality improvement.
Global-Mark is an independent organisation, dedicated to improving the quality and safety of health care in Australia through continual review of performance, assessment and accreditation.
We have recently undergone our certification and have received ongoing accreditation until February 2011.
ROSEBUD SURGICENTRE MISSION STATEMENT
Rosebud SurgiCentre was established to provide high quality private specialist medical services to the Mornington Peninsula. The Centre is a profit making concern.
The Centre will position itself to be recognized as the diagnostic and day procedure centre of choice for the people of the Mornington Peninsula.
It will offer, in a cost effective manner, a select range of surgical, medical and diagnostic services in line with the capabilities of the facility.

Mr Wai-Leng Chue MBBS; FRACS; FRACS (vascular)
Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon
Mr Chue graduated from the Queensland University and completed general surgical training in Queensland. He worked at Addenbrookes Vascular Unit, Cambridge, UK, and subsequently at Queenland University in vascular biology research. His Vascular Surgery Training commenced at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and was completed at the Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre.
Mr Chue's practice covers management of all arterial and venous disorders. Apart from open vascular surgery, his other interest lies in minimally invasive endovascular surgery. Endovascular surgery is available for the treatment of peripheral vascular disease with angioplasty, subintimal angioplasty and stenting. Carotid stenting and endoluminal AAA repair is offered to patients when appropriate. Endovenous Laser Ablation of varicose veins are now available.He has an appointment at Frankston Hospital and operates privately at Beleura, Peninsula Private and the Bays Hospitals.
Dr Martin Haskett
Martin Haskett has been in general dermatology practice on the Mornington Peninsula since 1986 and provides consultations at his Frankston rooms that cover the complete range of problems of the skin, nails and hair for all age groups. His special interest is in skin cancers and particularly in the management of melanoma, and surgery which requires an operating theatre is conducted at Rosebud Surgicentre, for which he is a Medical Director and Public officer.

Mr Charlie Last
Mr Charlie Last, Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon consults at Rosebud SurgiCentre every Tuesday morning. Charlie is a graduate of Monash University and trained at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne as well as studying in Hull in the UK. Charlie and his family moved to the Peninsula in 1998 and commenced practice at his main rooms in Clarendon Street, Frankston in 1998. Charlie has been instrumental in providing laser surgery for varicose veins on the Peninsula.
Dr Robert Lew
Dr Robert Lew is a cardiologist. He has been on the peninsula for the last 3 years. He has admitting rights to both public (Frankston Hospital) and Private hospitals (Peninsula Private). He consults in Rosebud on Thursday. Subspecialty is interventional cardiology, Stents. He consults in all areas of cardiology.
Dr Edwin Lowther
Dr Ted Lowther is a specialist paediatrician who has consulted on the Mornington Peninsula since 1988. He sees all types of problems in children from infancy to the end of school age, with a special interest in unsettled infants and developmental problems. He consults at the Rosebud SurgiCentre every Wednesday and one Friday per month.
