Hong Kong Adventist Hospital

Hong Kong Adventist Hospital

Blessed with Christian faith, this private, not-for-profit hospital has been providing high quality healthcare to the local community and expatriates residing in Hong Kong, and to patients coming from overseas who demand a higher standard of medical care.

Thanks to its state-of-the-art equipment and competency of its staff, the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital offers all the advantages of a high-tech medical center in a personalized setting where physicians and healthcare personnel can provide patients with attentive care in a safe and cozy environment.

The Hong Kong Adventist Hospital is proud to be the first hospital in Hong Kong and Macau to receive full accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI). It has also been receiving full accreditation by the Trent Accreditation Board in successive years since 2000.

History:

The Hong Kong Adventist Hospital is part of the Adventist Health global network of over 160 hospitals with the common goal of providing premiere "compassionate personalized care" to patients in all parts of the world.

It was in the late sixties that Dr. Harry Miller initiated the idea of building a hospital to serve the community and advance the philosophy of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. With the help of two church missionaries, Pastor Ezra Long way and Pastor Robert Milne, they proposed to the Seventh-day Adventist Development Board to utilize the current location to build a hospital.

Dr. Chan Shun, the founder and former Chair and Managing Director of Crocodile Garments Limited, gave the first million dollars. Donations soon flooded in, with the tireless effort of the hospital's founders.

The Hong Kong Adventist Hospital has grown and developed in various specialties through the decades, but has remained a private, not-for-profit hospital. All revenues come from the provision of patient services. Revenues in excess of expenses are re-invested into the Hospital to acquire new equipment and facilities, or to expand new services.

Values

Our values are excellence, service, care integrity and trust in God.

Compassionate Quality Care

With values consistent with the philosophy, teachings and practices of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital works to provide premier ethical leadership to emphasize on permanent healing.

The Hong Kong Adventist Hospital promotes the Adventist philosophy of "Total Health". "Total Health" means that we would not be satisfied with the diagnosis and successful treatment of the patient's medical problems. We view every patient as a whole person in the total context of his beliefs, family, work, and lifestyle, and seek to restore him to a full functional life.

We initiate programs in disease prevention, health assessment, lifestyle management and organize rehabilitation programs for patients suffering from chronic diseases. We commit time, talent and support to educate the public in the principles of healthful living at the community level.

Highlight:

Accreditation

The Hong Kong Adventist Hospital works to exceed statutory requirements and patients' expectations.

In 2006, the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital is proud to become the first hospital in Hong Kong and Macau to receive accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI).
Joint Commission International (JCI) is the international affiliate of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), a non-governmental organization that has been involved in the establishment of standards and quality management systems in healthcare in the United States since 1951.
Most states in America accept the accreditation by the Joint Commission as a condition for licensure. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and Joint Commission International (JCI) were designated as the world's first WHO Collaborating Centers dedicated solely to patient safe in August 2005.

The Hong Kong Adventist Hospital has been assessed to exceed Organization Standards of the Trent Accreditation Board from the United Kingdom too. For consecutive years since 2000, the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital has been receiving full accreditation from the Trent Accreditation Board.

By choosing to receive medical care only from an internationally accredited hospital, you are guaranteed that the level of care you receive is of international standard.
