This involves application of a medicated pudding on the entire body with the help of muslin bag (Njavara ricecooked in Cow milk and decoction ofkurumthotti). Four boluses are made of this cooked rice and wrapped and tied in linen bags (kizhi).
The subject or patient is first made to sit upright with legs outstretched. The masseurs on either side perform the fomentation process in an identical manner with the massage in the downward direction.
The person is then positioned on his/her back and the process is continued. Thekizhisare kept ready in a decoction of warm milk at a constant temperature. The treatment is over once fomentation has been carried out in all the seven positions.
After the duration of treatment, the paste is wiped off and a suitable type of oil is applied all over the body before bath.
