Among the many aspects to genital rejuvenation one of them is Mons Pubis Rejuvenation (a pubic lift of a sagging pubic area). This is the hair-bearing area of the pubis. It occurs both in men and women and is mostly associated with weight gain, weight loss, pregnancy and aging.

Mons pubis liposuction is typically performed in the supine position at the time of general abdominal liposuction. Although a tummy tuck or body lift removes a lot of loose abdominal skin, in few cases it leaves excess pubic skin behind resulting in a mons sag. This becomes unpleasant as it was not anticipated. In few cases the same can be treated with liposuction. In the case of an isolated pubic hang, it can be treated with a pubic lift.

An incision is done on the lower central abdomen while performing a body lift or tummy tuck so that the sagging pubic area gets lifted more than the surrounding areas.� In the case of a normal frontal abdominal excision that may avoid the need or desire for a secondary pubic procedure. It is like dropping a shallow ‘U-shaped’ extension of the planned lower abdominal incision. One of the cosmetic ‘problems’ that this modification will create, however,� is the the buffer zone between the final incision/scar and the pubic hair line is lost. The pubic hairline will be brought right up to the scar line. This can be easily remedied later by laser hair removal.

Usually the entire area from the belly button to the mons pubis is removed. If a c-section scar is present it will be removed. When a pure pubic lift is done, a caesarian type scar just above the pubic hair is used as the approach for lifting the pubis. Stretch marks located above your belly button will not be removed but the excess skin will be tightened when it is pulled down towards the mons pubis

When a pubic lift is done in conjunction with an abdominoplasty, the abdominoplasty scar crosses the area just above the pubic hair and the pubis itself can be lifted through this approach. At times, the clitoris becomes more exposed, allowing for improved stimulation.

This scar heals well as a horizontal scar just above the pubis. Surgery can be done under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia and takes about 30 minutes. Little pain is present after the surgery. Bruising and swelling may persist for 7 to 10 days. A pubic lift results in a more attractive, streamlined pubic area. Eliminating the sagging skin results in rejuvenation of this area.

The surgery can be performed with general anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, spinal anesthesia or intravenous sedation with local infiltration and pudendal block. Patients are typically positioned in dorsal lithotomy with boot-type stirrups, mild knee flexion and routine Intermittent pneumatic compression stockings to prevent deep venous thrombosis. Indwelling bladder catheterization and vaginal packing are employed during the same operation.
